In essence, this research aims to spark change by using creativity to raise awareness and inspire action, ensuring that the unique charm of these imperiled islands endures for future generations.
This project aims to create a product that captures and preserves the nostalgic charm of island paradises around the world threatened by climate change. Seeing that nothing like this exists in the market, I realized there’s a significant gap we could fill. The goal was to craft something that not only showcases the beauty of these endangered islands but also stands the test of time, creating a tangible reminder of their splendor, whether through memories or physical keepsakes.
Given how quickly landscapes can change, whether through natural processes or human impact, there’s an urgent need to protect the beauty of these islands. This initiative seeks to immortalize these pictures and remind people of our planet’s fragility, especially in the face of climate change.
This conceptual project explores how design can preserve places that may one day disappear. Inspired by the growing impact of climate change, it reimagines endangered islands as lasting visual artifacts—capturing their beauty while encouraging reflection on their fragility.
The project emerged from a simple observation: while countless destinations are celebrated through travel souvenirs, few objects acknowledge the landscapes that are gradually being transformed or lost. By documenting these places through thoughtful design, the work creates tangible keepsakes that preserve not only their appearance but also the memories, emotions, and stories they represent.
More than a visual exercise, the project is an invitation to consider our relationship with the natural world. It demonstrates how design can become a tool for awareness, using storytelling and materiality to inspire conversation around environmental preservation and the lasting value of the places we cherish.
